SHANGHAI, CHINA - The 12th Academic Conference of the Oral Nursing Branch of the Chinese Stomatological Association was held as part of the annual stomatology academic gathering. Oral nursing serves as an indispensable supporting link in the whole restorative workflow, running through clinical preparation, intraoral scanning, impression taking, try-in of prostheses and postoperative follow-up management. Stable and standardised nursing coordination directly reduces chairside waiting time and lowers the risk of contamination during digital and conventional prosthetic delivery.
The conference gathered nursing specialists, clinical frontline nurses and teaching staff from stomatological hospitals and institutions nationwide. Multiple themed sessions focused on nursing cooperation in digital prosthodontic treatment, infection control for intraoral scanning equipment, auxiliary nursing for impression and bite registration, and patient communication for long-term prosthetic maintenance. Speakers shared practical protocols to standardise nursing actions when clinicians carry out crown try-in, cement removal and occlusal adjustment.
Attendees also exchanged experience on standardised disinfection procedures for scanning heads, impression trays and auxiliary tools that are frequently used in cooperation with dental laboratories. The academic exchange helps unify nursing operating standards across different regions, optimise the coordination rhythm between doctors, nurses and lab technicians, and improve the overall safety and efficiency of prosthodontic services in clinical settings.
