Principle: The computerised digitally controlled cutting method involves computer design and control of cutting tools to precisely cut and polish resin blocks or other materials to produce a denture that meets requirements. This method uses digital design to accelerate the digital transition of removable dentures and reduce labour costs.
Applications: Since the early 1980s, CAD/CAM technology has been widely used in dentistry, particularly for the fabrication of fixed restorations such as crowns and bridges. In recent years, the technology has also been gradually applied to the fabrication of removable dentures.
Characteristics: The computer digital control cutting method can greatly reduce the cost of manpower and material resources and improve the precision suitability of oral restorations. At the same time, due to the use of computer control, the human error in the traditional casting method can be avoided. However, this method also has some problems, such as the complex internal structure in the cutting process is difficult to form, the raw material waste rate is large.
